I LOVE this! Especially the little flower pot on the outside! That makes the concept holistic, which is a must for an eco-concious urban bee-haver.
This reminds me of the little strawberry pots or lemon trees you can buy and always have fresh strawberries and lemons.
The articles suggest that this is simply a futuristic design prototype, not necessarily something that will be on sale at WalMart anytime soon. Too bad they didn't seem to consult with actual beekeepers about the design. You can already purchase and install permanent indoor observation hives that actually work properly, but those don't usually include a flower pot or a magic cord.

Hey all,
got this yesterday from a friend as well. i love his link....says you just "get
honey" from the bottom by pulling a cord!

this link talks about smoke from the bottom (?) but either way...maybe they could just
sell that magic wand/cord to us regular folk to use in our bee yards...a few waves or
pulls of the string and we'll "get honey" as well! ;-)
I do love the organic design and look!
see ya'll tonight,

Interesting concept; really pushing the limit of the traditional
Langstroth style hives but I do wonder if it has some design issues and
how extensible their wax/frame system is:

Also, why would the smoke come from the bottom? :)
