I agree with Catherine. I have seen a hungry 4 frame nuc wear out a division board feeder (about a gallon) in a day. Catherine makes an important point about throwing it to them though...Check to make sure they are not jamming the brood nest with sugar water. I believe the difference between the rates in the 2 feeders can be explained by access. The number of bees that can get to the boardman at one time is limited.
