We moved two hives that way -- strapping them to a wagon/dolly. We moved them at dusk so that most of the foragers were in the hive during the move, and we placed leafy branches at the entrance so that the next morning the bees would take notice that "Hey, something is different here," and, potentially anyway, reorient themselves to their new location. Our move was farther than yours, but not by much. Some bees kept returning the old site, and for 3-4 days at dusk I would entice them into a nuc (it wasn't hard) and carry them to the new site, set it down in front of the hives, and they would leave the nuc and go into the old hives. Sometimes I had to dump them out. That got old pretty quickly, however, and finally I just left about a hundred bees at the old site to fend for themselves. Good luck! -Elisabeth Curtis

I need to move my hive about 75 feet. It’s probably too heavy to carry. I was thinking of strapping it to a dolly and rolling it. Also blocking the entrance with the restrictor so they can’t attack during the move. Then removing the restrictor using a long string.
Whatcha think?
I’m new at this.
