Peach trees not flowering

The ever effervescent Edwardo writes:

Subzero temperatures in early January took out most all peach flower Buds in 
Ohio and northern KY.

My reply:

Ditto here, in the frozen tundra known as west greater Chicagoland.  
Suspecting as much I took the opportunity to severely prune my peaches.
Let the new growth begin.  Interestingly the sweet cherries seems less 
effected (Lapins).
