Hi all,
I have Fragaria virginiana as ground cover in some ornamental beds. It's
been there several years and is spreading happily. But I'm surprised-I've
not gotten a single fruit.
The plants are healthy, they flower like crazy, there are plenty of
pollinators. It's not getting late frosts. The fruit appears to be
setting, and then must be aborting very early on-it doesn't develop.
My original plants were clones-do they need cross pollination? One resource
says they are gynodioecious. Any ideas about what is going on? Should I
plant some domestic strawberries among them for pollenizers?
