Fireblight? Looks to me like this infection entered the wood through open
wounds. Can Fireblight enter through open wounds as well as blossoms? Yes, it
does look like Fireblight.

Does anybody know of a sweet cherry tree that will grow (and produce) sweet=
cherries in southern Indiana? I am interested in a Compact Stella as it is=
supposed to be self-pollinating. I have tried Bing and it did not work. =
Any suggestions? Jerry in southern Indiana

I'm growing Stella and Kristin in southeastern Ohio. I get fruit maybe
once every 5 years (frosts get the rest). You need to be vigilant for
cherry fruit fly and brown rot.
I noticed Raintree has a new self-pollinating black cherry (name escapes
me) that looked good too.
