I have a few trees from which I'm wondering if it's alright to prune
vegetative growth in early spring or summer. There are buds that have put
out vegetative growth where I don't want it. Is it OK to go ahead and take
off the new shoots that I know I'm going end up taking off this winter (if
not now)? In particular, I'm referencing new peach and Asian pear trees I
got this winter, but if there is a great difference in pruning preference
from tree crop to tree crop, I'd be interested in hearing some perspective
on other types of fruit as well.
Thanks,
