Yup: generally found here, in the dry part of Washington state, just up the
bank
from streams and rivers.

Most of what (I believe you've read says, not wet feet, nor dry.
"We" picked them when found... often in canyons 3-6000 ft,
not far from streams or water, dappled sunlight, maybe
gooseberries, currants, (or even blueberries,) semi-near.
Killer wine. WORTH more research. Ties w/G'mas Dandylion
wine. These two, above all other wines in my life.
Jelly also VERY good. Stronger than Prickly Pear
(Ficus Optunia) but easily equal in [potential] finesse.
Please advise your data-set outcome; & save seeds.
