Did the question about edible acorns get answered? I missed some of the posts but did find a answer to the question. One man spent years researching oak trees with edible acorns. He wrote a book called: "Nature's Garden" It was published this year and has a whole chapter on oaks. He has charts with tanin content of acorns and explains how the myth of a edible acorn got started. The key fact is: using taste is not a reliable way to determine tanin content.
