Year and climate make a BIG difference. Most of my persimmons are so late
this year they aren't worth tasting. Even if they were, the birds nail them
almost as soon as there is color.

For those who've tried/discovered new (previously unfamiliar) or American
persimmon cultivars, what are your new or same favorites now?
If you list favorites, please list some other cultivars that you are familiar
with but have been, in your opinion, surpassed
This year - thanks to Mr. Jerry Lehman, I found these - in total - to be my
favorite cultivars:
Morris Burton - sweetest, however juicy and simple nectar-sweet and small
(not as small as most wild, though)
Mitchellena ['Lena] - love the blend of colors/flavors: pink, red, orange,
yellow - flavor it outstanding
Yates - still a favorite due to size and grainy texture is appreciated here
Wabash - very different then all others - small red fruit, "dark" complex
flavor - sort of rem. of coffee and rum
J59 is pretty big and has good color
Others I'm familiar with:
Meader - comparatively not that great; WAY BETTER than the wild ones, though
Szukis - pretty good
Knightsville & seedling - not that impressed, maybe another year?
Mohler - not that great
Others..
Steve
