While my J.Yoder No. 1 trees have yet to produce a nut for me(oldest was
grafted in 1998), I've heard the KNGA hickory 'expert' opine, on more than
one occasion, that Yoder can 'sense' a weevil-infested nut and abort it -
hence he never finds any mature nuts from Yoder which are infested.

I'd hazard a guess that your friend Ted can probably tell you more about
which shagbark cultivar is best suited for NJ than anyone on this list, as
he's been growing a bunch of them for years.
