Dear Nafex family,

I need to tell you all that, contrary to my most recent Pomona essay, I will not be able to be at the meeting, and I'm really sorry about that. We have out-of-country guests, a son home for a short time, and me learning how to use the latest online grading systems for the classes I'll teach at the university in a few weeks.

But even if you haven't registered yet, I urge you to go. I know it will be excellent. I would also like to ask for anything you'd like to write up about it (and of course, about your own growing season) for the winter Pomona. The whole membership would benefit from your efforts.

Thanks so much; keep me posted on the wonderful meeting.

I note that Douglas listed some blight susceptible pears for interstems with
quince.  I'd got for Maxine aka Starking Delicious, and not have to worry
about blight.  Also some say it induces precocity.  Donna
