Further to John S's question as to what a pot leek is.
They are leeks which have been specially selected for a short blanched stem but have incredible girth. The blanched stem is produced by wrapping in paperor growing up through a section of polyurethane pipe (the type used for water or mains gas). Compared with competition for growing the longest leek.
A good picture of a pot leek can be found at http://www.bigpumpkins.com/diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=78839
