M106 - Semi-dwarf rootstock. Usually produces a tree about 65-75% the
size of the same tree on seedling rootstock. Provides good anchorage. Imparts early bearing fruit and is easily propagated. Reported resistant to woolly apple aphid. Requires irrigation. Tree spacing ranges from 10 x 18 ft to 6 x 12 ft. M7a - Semi-dwarf rootstock. Usually produces a tree about 60% the size of the same tree on seedling rootstock. Performs well in irrigated replant situations, but tends to sucker. Spacing is same as M106. Taken from http://homeorchard.ucdavis.edu/plant_apple.pdf Be sure to stake the trees to give them support! ay On 4/2/2010 8:05 PM, Ginda Fisher wrote: 0B6A7780-B094-479E-A787-D66E5FE1EDCE@ginda.us" type="cite">I just got two new apple trees: A Karmijn on M7 and a Wickson crab on M106. Of course, I don't really have room for more trees. Yes, I bought them anyway - I actually ordered them from Cummins about a year and a half ago. Anyhow, I'm looking for advice on how closely I can plant them, because even if I can fit them in, I know that I'll want to plant more stuff.
