Spidra from Berkeley, California asked, "Is there any way I can induce dormancy early so that I can take scion wood?"
When I worked in a Merced, California, nursery, we were repeatedly being asked that question and there was only one reliable answer, "Stop watering!" When Fall-Early Winter watering ceased, even the non-native (to CA) Common Lilac would bloom in the Spring.
