Dr. Bill Goff, pecan specialist at Auburn University, recently posted this link to their most recent update on pecan varieties recommended for the Southeastern US. – some of these may or may not also be worth trying in other pecan-growing areas of the country – I’ve got several of the newer releases growing here in zone 6/western KY, and some have produced – and matured - a few nuts, despite Dr. Goff’s caution to me that they might not be able to mature their nuts here in KY.
