I would think nectar would smell and be attractive to any insect attracted by nectar---regardless of the appearance of the inflorescence. Aren't insects color blind?
However, I'm not sure if passion fruit flowers attract insects with nectar or not. Sorry.

The trouble with growing passion fruit, P incarnata, and other fruits
not native to this area is the strangeness of the flowers.  The pollinators
here don't recognize them as sources of nectar and/or pollen.  Consequently,
they don't get pollinated unless I do it by hand or the wind does it.
