I had both Northstar and Meteor cherries in southern Ontario (probably zone
4, on the
northern edge of the Niagara peninsula), and got a small crop off them the
year before we
moved to Nova Scotia. I replanted the same two varieties here in NS (damp,
maritime zone
5b), and they grew well, but both succumbed to gummosis. I have not had the
problems
Claude and Steve describe, and the trees keep regrowing from the roots, the
new growth
looking nice and healthy, with nice shiny healthy-looking leaves, (until the
gummosis sets in)
