When you do a cleft graft you end up with a crack thru the middle
between the 2 scions and some shaved scion wood (probably)
exposed.  How do you get it all covered including the split on each
side of the wood going downward. It's easy to cover with Doc's
material.  Yellow shows up and you can see the grafts easy for the
season. Tape works good on a W &T or bud graft but very tough on
cleft grafts.
40 degrees today. Hasn't been that warm for a number of days.  Wind
has been blowing from Lake Michigan and it has been downright cool.


You are correct. I never do cleft grafts therefore didn't consider that  graft method.
