Dear Jerry,

I would be very interested on an update on the Myrobolan plum, if you are talking about those fabulous plums from Russia developed at a Plant Research Station near the Black Sea.

You coodinated the importation of this particular type of plums, did you not? Please tell us more.

Dear group,

The following works on Myrobalan plum. Haven't tried it on other Prunus species.

Take 12" late fall cuttings of current years growth, dip the ends in IBA, wrap them in plastic with a medium such as milled sphagnum to keep them damp, store them vertically at about 40 degrees and in about 90 days they will develop callous on the bottom. Some will even root. When the spring ground temp reaches about 60 degrees plant them it the ground.

PS. For those that are questioning where the callousing energy comes from when grafting, this is a good indication.

Jerry
