Note that knit nylon bags like these -- unlike plastic or paper bags -- absolutely _don't_ protect against plum curculio damage (we did the experiment last year). So if you have major PC problems you still have to spray according to your usual schedule when using such bags.

Just received this e-mail that others might be interested if you aren't aware of them yet, especially if you bag your apples.

We would like to introduce a proven concept to protect apples, pears, Asian pears, peaches and nectarines from infestations of the apple maggot fly, codling moth, and oriental fruit moth without the use of harmful pesticides.

Maggot Barriers have been proven to work over the last 3 years by many Nurseries and Fruit Tree Societies. They were very impressed with the results when applied to their apple and pear trees. Maggot Barrier bags keep fruit insect free all season. They are easy to use and should be applied early to fruitlets. They will expand with the growth of the fruit and create a physical barrier to insect infestations. No more double plastic bags, brown paper bags, traps or pesticides. One easy application per season is all that is needed.

We appreciate your consideration.

Sincerely,

Maggot Barriers
