Fluffy mentioned growing primocanes only, for fall berries which I
assume means he mows them after fall but I have found that my stands are
much more durable if I don't do this.? If I mow the weeds will take over
and the canes become weak.? The meager summer harvest I get is a
foragers treat, but not much use for preserves.
My reply:
I have tried removing them in the fall and overwintering and removing them n
the early spring. I prefer the later.
Btw I prune my down. I have no idea how you guys mow down Heritage. The
darn things are a minimum of an inch in diameter. You must use a tough
lawnmover. Now Fall Gold I could have run over. I can't Imagine doing that
to Autumn Britten of Autumn Bliss either. Both have huge canes in terms of
diameter.
One question: has anyone tried WYE Berries?
