I pick them when they are open and fry them in an egg batter, just like squash blossoms. And the flavor is similar, spicy.
I can't see that the rhizomes would be worth digging, edible or not. And the leaves would have to be young to not be too tough. There are always plenty of flowers.

Even tasty. I dry and use them in hot sour soup. http://www.poppainc.org/pdfs/Daylily_recipes.pdf Naomi -----Original Message----- From: nafex-bounces@lists.ibiblio.org [mailto:nafex-bounces@lists.ibiblio.org] On Behalf Of tanis cuff Sent: Monday, February 09, 2009 1:38 PM To: nafex@lists.ibiblio.org Subject: Re: [NAFEX] Tiger Lillies, daylilies? [OT, mostly] I've heard that the flower buds are edible, but I can't imagine that slowing down the plants! Are the leaves or rhizomes edible too? ________________________________ > Date: Mon, 9 Feb 2009 11:48:48 -0800 > From: aleguy33@yahoo.com > To: nafex@lists.ibiblio.org > Subject: Re: [NAFEX] Tiger Lillies, daylilies?
