The discussion regarding goumi suggested an idea to me.  I have a King Red Russian olive that is experiencing die-back for several years and I fear I'm going to lose it.  I also have an autumn olive that is a generic variety.  Does anyone know if Russian Olive (or goumi) can be grafted to autumn olive?  We'd be talking about top working a 5' small tree.  Any suggests as to timing and type of graft?  I'd like to get started as soon as possible, but only limited experience with grafting.
