Mark,
I don't know that it was rabbits, but some rodent nipped the top out of one
grafted pawpaw and two others had bark stripped off the side late last
winter. The two foot tall, half-inch diameter trees were protected from deer
and the only other rodents that I know of in the area were squirrels, voles,
and moles.
Larger pawpaw trees have not been bothered by any mammals.
