We had a friend here in Tennessee who's land was at
the foot of 4 mountains. She bought 3 Hi-Lo thermometers before she
figured out they couldn't all be wrong. Her night time lows tended to run
much colder than the surrounding area. She said her rabbiteyes froze out,
she had to get northern blueberries.
That said, you might want to
look into the two "southern highbush" released by Arkansas a couple years
ago. Unlike the others in that group, theirs require a lot of chill
hours. The one they patented, Ozark Blue, should have the hardiness of the
northern blueberries with the vigorous large bush and drought
resistance of the rabbiteyes. Donna
