My pluots are verging on complete failure at this point, they are very much
west-coast fruits.
Why is that, Scott? Is it because of disease problems, you mean?
As an experiment, I planted three pluots last spring, though I had my doubts at how they'd do. Still, it's probably a lot drier here in Nebraska than in Maryland, so disease pressure (if that's the problem) might not be so bad here.
For what it's worth, my young trees grew great this year, but they were hit hard by Oriental Fruit Moths. Now that I know what the problem is, I'll have to work at spraying more regularly.

The creation-evolution problem is more acute and difficult to overcome precisely because it is not a scientific controversy. Social controversies about science teaching have much deeper roots, and they cannot be solved simply by explaining to people what science tells us about the topic at hand. - Massimo Pigliucci
