Alan and all,
Great Wall and Saijo fruit just fine here in zone 6 -
southern west-central KY, about 70 mi NW of Nashville TN.
Looking back through old POMONAs, there have been
several articles through the years - one I remember
was a Mr. Jackson in Red Lion, PA, who reported on
several kaki varieties, 'Sheng', in particular, which
had done well for him for many years.
So...I'd be inclined to give those three - Saijo,
Sheng, Great Wall - all astringent varieties(I think)
- a try, if you want a zone 6 kaki.
Others, like Richard Moyer, have had Ichi &/or Hana
Fuyu fruiting for them in a zone 6 setting, but Cliff
England says they won't work here(but I'm trying 'em
anyway.).
