Dear Dan,
My sympathies and condolences to you at the loss of what sounds like the kind of friend who truly enriched the lives of those he touched. Now he has gone the way of all flesh, and the void he left must now be tempered with the kinds of memories that only good friends can make together. Just last night I watched the segment of Ken Burns' "War" that depicted the events of D-day, including our catastrophic landing on Omaha Beach. One can only have huge respect for the troops who participated in that horrific event and witnessed the very worst that life has to offer. I hope it's as close as I ever come to war. No doubt the event and those that followed helped to shape Bill's character and to make him the person you knew and loved. I feel for you, my friend.
Ozzie

Nafex members and Guests. Bill Schulz passed away last Friday. Bill and I were like Father and Son. I was introduced to Bill at a Home Orchard Society function back in 1990. From that day forward Bill and I traveled to most HOS events, tours, and scion/fruit shows. Bill and I also roomed at the NAFEX convention at Portland in 2001.
