I've only bought one tree from St. Lawrence, and it was average. I've bought a bunch of currants, blueberries, and shrubby this-and- that, and been quite happy with them. They've been large plants (by far the largest bare-root shrubs I've received), well packaged, with good root systems, and they've arrived ideally early in the planting season, fully dormant. If a couple of places have what I want, St. Lawrence is my first choice.

By the way, when reading the Garden Watchdog listings, it's good to pay attention to what people have ordered. For instance, I've seen companies with a lot of feedback where most of the folks who ordered bulbs were happy, but the ones who ordered plants weren't, or where the folks who ordered seeds were happier than the ones who ordered live plants.

Deb,
I'm glad for you that you are satisfied with St. Lawrence Nursery. The
trees I bought from them were under-sized runts, misshapen, contorted and
broken. I cannot imagine anyone selling such junk as they sent to me. I'm
still irate about my dealings with them.
For a purveyor of quality merchandise, why not check out our own John
Bunker (NAFEXer) www.fedcoseeds.com John has a 58 page catalog and lots of
apple varieties, excellent reading for these long winter days. Call John at

I am interested in which nurseries folks have used for purchasing fruit
trees. I've had fairly good experiences with Raintree and St. Lawrence, but
am interested in finding other sources that carry more varieties. Thanks.
