Subject: Question about Blackberries
Date: Wed, 18 Oct 2006 16:44:29 -0500

... I collect heirloom seeds and plants from gardeners in the Madison area. I
received some berry roots from someone and I am growing them in my yard. I
can best describe them as a type of blackberries with very vibrant, thorny
brambles.
My source was not sure what they were called but she thought they came
from Germany. I have been trying to find a European berry called "Himmelbeer" in German.
Can you give me any information about this fruit? Is it a bramble type plant?
I have heard of a Himalaya berry which grows in California and is a blackberry bramble. So perhaps my source was wrong about where her plant comes from.
Any information you could give me on the German "Himmelbeer" would be
welcome.

Thank you for your help.
