A few years ago I read Bailey White's book QUITE A
YEAR FOR PLUMS and really enjoyed it. So many books are written by city
people, that a book entirely concerned with rural people and rural concerns was
very refreshing. Donna
P.S. If you want something depressing and
horrifying, there is the novel A THOUSAND ACRES about one farm family that
has survived the loss of rural population, buying up defunct farms till they too
go under.
