Reemay has been used successfully over dwarf/miniature stonefruit trees with good success.  You do have to time so the pollinators can get in, of course.  Reemay’s designed to not damage leaves.

Subject: [NAFEX] japanese beetles

 

The Japanese beetles are bad this year and are really chewing up the leaves on some young cherry trees.  I was considering knocking them off and then covering the trees with Reemay (floating row cover) and putting a band around the trunks to keep it closed.  These are one and two year old trees.  Is this a good idea?  I was a little concerned that the Reemay would damage the leaves from friction...
