I'm in USDA hardiness zone 10. This January I planted 5 5-gallon pots of
Black Satin blackberries from Monrovia growers. The plants all had 3 robust
canes from last year. In February the canes began sprouting branches like
gangbusters and in March they started blooming. Those canes now have about
1 flat of fruit per plant that is ripening -- and those canes are continuing
to bud and bloom. However, in late March these plants began to put up about
4 primocanes per plant. They are now about 1-inch diameter at the base and
about 8 foot in length. To my surprise, two weeks ago these canes also
began budding and blooming. Looks like I will not have a shortage of
blackberries.

I've never grown blackberries, but I've seen wild ones that have every
fruit stage from blossom to ripe fruit on the same bush. My
raspberries routinely continue to produce blossoms after the early
blossoms have become ripe fruit - more in the fall crop than in the
summer crop, since the fall crop is more spread out.

I would have thought it was normal for the group.
