Why would an apple tree bloom this time of year? The variety that now is in bloom is Fireside. We had summer-like weather in April this year, followed by a dry stressful summer. The last few weeks have been wet and cooler. I wonder if that threw off its internal clock. Could the tree have gone into a dormant-like state during the summer due to water stress similar to the dormant state it goes into during winter due to temperature stress? -Mark Lee, Seattle zone 8a |
