- Subject: [NAFEX] Apple Pollenation
- Date: Sun, 23 May 2004 14:42:13 -0400
Hello All,
This first year I am rely on cut, flowering apple branches to pollinate the apple tree in my backyard. I keep the cut branches fresh as long as possible by keeping the cut fresh (take off another 1/2", every 2 days).
My question is; Is the pollen viable in an apple blossom after the petals fall?
I still have new flowers opening on the tree, but most of the wild apples are losing bloom and dropping petals.
Anyone know?
Thanks,
Tom
