Regarding the recent posting on Round-Up Pro - please be aware that there is also a new product called Round-Up Plus. This contains Round-Up plus Diquat, and is NOT FOR USE ON EDIBLE CROPS. The message below was circulated to Master Gardeners in Maryland.

Dennis Bishop brought to public attention in his Baltimore Sun
column a potential problem with the new Roundup Plus product that
combines glyphosate and diquat. Monsanto's product website and
label for this new product leave a lot to be desired.

Roundup Plus is being heavily marketed and may end up being
purchased and used more than Roundup this year. The problem is
that, unlike old Roundup, Roundup Plus cannot be used on edible
crops. Unfortunately, the label is silent on this.

It would be very easy for someone to buy Roundiup Plus and either
not realize that it was different from Roundup or use it without
understanding the label regarding vegetables. The label really
should have a bolded statement to the effect that the product should
not be used around edible crops.

I've had several e-mail exchanges with Scott's (they do customer
service for Monsanto??) about the label and confusing web
information. In one response they claim Roundup Plus can be used
within 18-24 inches of edible crops. This information does not
appear on the label. I am waiting to hear back from their marketing
person and will keep you posted.
