Crandall tastes great cooked - I made a terrific pie using equal parts Crandall and apple. It just doesn't taste like a "black currant".

All that blackcurrant talk has me wanting more
(crandall apparently isn't going to have as good a
cooked flavor). But I've had some problems with
borers in gooseberries and currants; hate to put more
plants at risk. I suppose it's too much to ask that
some cultivars are more borer-resistant than others?
Do any of the types have growth patterns that make it
easier to see and control borers?
