A few years ago, a Minnesota State Legislator introduced a bill to ban genetically modified foods from being sold in Minnesota. And, it just so happened that that legislator bought sweetcorn at the local farmers' market. So a letter was drafted saying, "Your favorite sweetcorn is genetically modified." The proposed bill was canceled ASAP! Regarding sweetcorn sales at our farmers' market, if it isn't the genetically modified kind, most people won't buy it.

That's odd. People at markets here who ask for a specific sweet corn tend to ask for Silver Queen, an old SU hybrid.
Do you mean people at your market are asking specifically for GMO corn? Or that they like specific varieties which are GMO; and do they know that they're GMO? Or do you mean that they're asking for supersweets? Many supersweets on the market are not GMO's.
