Title: Re: [NAFEX] grape problem
Probably a combination of berry splitting (usually caused by rain at ripening time) and yellowjacket/wasps attacking the fruit.  Splitting is a varietal thing - some grapes split more than others.  The wasps are attracted to sweet fruit in general, so the only alternative to them is to plant sour grapes that they (or you) wouldn't want to eat.

Subject: [NAFEX] grape problem

My Canadice grape had its first crop. The bunches started to ripen and all was well. As they ripened some grapes got a slit in them; thinking its was birds I covered them with a net. The problem worsened as days passed by. A lot of wasps buzzing around the bunches with a lot of earwigs in the bunches. Eventually most every grape had a slit. Can anyone help.

with thanks
