Del, Ginda, et. al.,
Haven't tried this myself, folks, but thought it might prove helpful to repost
this piece that appeared a year ago on the Apple-Crop forum.
Richard
"Regarding yellow jackets as nuisances, particularly in areas where you may be
serving retail products to the public, I learned
a fascinating trick from a volunteer yesterday. We were serving a field lunch
prior to a pumpkin field day. We had
hamburgers, seedless watermelon slices, cut tomatoes, etc and the yellow
jackets became a huge nuisance. The volunteer
sliced up a bunch of cucumbers and laid the pieces around the serving area.
The yellow jackets left. An occasional would fly
through but wouldn't stay long. No explanation, just an observation to share."
