If the thought of using roundup makes you cringe you could always borrow someone's pig & create a temporary pen around the area. Invasives will be gone, the area will be nicely manured, & the microfauna in your soil will still be alive.

When the sprouts come up cut them off just below the first set of leaves and
paint the top interior of the remaining shoot stem with a Q-tip dipped in the
Roundup. If you can get some insulin needles you can inject it in the shoot or
the roots that you can uncover. I've done that with very large poison ivy
