Im not surprised to hear that there are auxins in urine but it is something you have to be careful with how you use. Ive used a dilute solution to fertilize container plants (figs, loquats, passionflowers love it) for years. On the other hand I fertilized a salvia divinorum & I literally watched the cell tissue of the plant break down over the course of 2-3 hours & the whole plant melted into a gooey slime. As for smell, fresh urine leaves almost no smell & in my many years of using it on my plants Id have to say the girl pee is easier on the nose than boy pee. & smell is much more of an issue for inside plants. I would think if you were using it as rooting hormone the smell would get out of control, sitting in open water like that. But maybe if you were rooting in a medium it would work nicely, I'll give it a try on some figs this spring.

I'm sure they're there, but Lon's right about the smell.  I also found that even diluted 50%, urine can kill seedlings so I wonder if the other chemicals present would counteract the auxins.  My experience is that urine should only be used with well esablished, healthy plants.   Seems to me I remember reading somewhere about reverse osmosis where the strength of the solution outside the root draws water out of the plant instead of nutrients into.     Hector Black zone 6

It would be easier to use something like willow water, and a lot less smelly.
And yes, human urine does contain hormones.  So much that the use of birth control and hormone replacement is getting into water systems and causing feminizing of fish populations.

To start a thread on urine again:

in some reading somewhere, it was noted that auxins are present in human
urine and probably critter urine too.  Has anyone experimented with
rooting cuttings with diluted urine?  willing to talk about it?
