Chris,
There are a number of variables to be considered:
Is the vine a rooted cutting or is it grafted?
If it is grafted, how far from the soil is the graft?
At your site, do you normally receive enough snow to completely cover the graft union?
How is the vine trellised - Fence, T-bar, etc. - or what are you plans to trellis and prune the vine?
