I've been getting fruit from my non-astringent quinces. A couple are edible
raw if you like rather solid, tart fruit, though they are still best cooked.
Smyrna will mellow in storage and become tender enough to eat, but again,
they will still be rather solid and tart. Though perhaps in a warmer
climate the acids might decrease more and make the fruit sweeter and more
mellow.
