All,

Is there an entomologist in the house that might have some speculation about
potential insect pressure for this coming growing season based on lack of
snow cover in most of the Midwest area , and the constant fluctuation
between cold and warm temperatures? Is there some kind of rule of thumb
where insect populations aren't significantly affected unless soil/air
temperatures reach a certain level for a certain length of time? Does the
flux in the temperatures create an adverse environment for the insects to
survive?

When and how are you able to measure the effect; trap monitoring in the
spring, soil/tree bark inspections...?

I thought it would make interesting conversation given that here in the
Indianapolis area we are expected to reach 60 degrees today.

Thanks,

Brian
Sheridan, IN 1.74 degrees north of heaven
