FWIW I put a few pomegranate seeds right from the fruit (the flesh was
spoiled) into a flowerpot on the windowsill above the sink. One grew, but
eventually damped off. Almost a year later, in the summer, I put the soil
from the pot into a larger pot that needed some fill-in around an existing
plant. Five more seedlings came up and are still doing fairly well except
for being bent from having a kitten sit on them.
