I don't think the post office has geared up the irradiation thing yet,
except for mail to DC. Once it's in place, they'll have to deal with
stuff that can't be irradiated. since that includes credit cards, film,
and some software, as well as live stuff, I'm sure some procedure will
be developed.

For now, unless you're mailing to DC, I'd just put it in the mail. It
couldn't hurt to label it "live plants" - the guys who run the radiation
equipment know that will wipe out plants, so they might leave it out. I
expect we'll have a window when it's hard to mail plants, but I don't
think we've hit it yet. (I was very pleased to get some plants recently
that still looked okay.)

I expect that plant material that has been zapped will look dead, just
like plant material that has overheated or dried out. Unfortunately, we
may all have the opportunity to find out.
