No, not by these methods. Periodicity of bearing is a genetic character of
the variety and it cannot be changed.

However, alternate bearing some times may be due to envronmental factors.
For example a there might a heavy crop in one year which is very likely to
reult in a leaner crop next year. This may be stopped to some extent by
reducing the crop load during the on year. So cultural operations might
play a small role some time.

But there is no effective solution to this prblem except choosing varieties
with an annual bearing habit.

This is not only true for apples but for all fruits havibng a tendecy for
alternate bearing.
