Ginda,
Here is the UNH site for plant publications, many are for fruit. The
information you are looking for is on the 3rd page of 'growing
raspberries' and is written by Bill Lord, UNH Fruit Specialist who does
almost all our workshops. The information contained in these works
includes a lot of basic information and is not only for the north.

Like I said in the original letter questioning my problem, I suspect too
rich a soil could be why some areas produce and others don't. The
vegetative growth is vigorous everywhere, but both runners and fruit are
produced in the same areas and only canes with little or no attempt to
jump to a new row where fruit production is absent. I figure if it was
too much fertility alone, the planting would spread evenly even if the
fruit production is localized in the row. It's just a puzzle for now,
this year berries are bigger and longer than in the past. I'll be doing
soil samples for fall amendments soon so that by spring it should be
straightened out. Who knows what the soil tests will show?
Yes, we could get in touch if I am in the area, same for you should you
be in the Great North Woods area of NH.
